Vice President Sara Duterte declared on Monday that she is fully prepared for the outcome of her upcoming impeachment trial, regardless of whether she is found guilty or acquitted.
Speaking in Davao City after casting her vote in the 2025 midterm elections, Duterte told reporters, “My only concern is the impeachment. I’m ready for whatever happens—guilty or acquittal.”
The House of Representatives impeached Duterte on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers backing the complaint that accused her of betrayal of public trust, constitutional violations, corruption, and other high crimes.
While Duterte said she has left the legal strategy to her team of lawyers, she remains involved in guiding them. “They update me on their challenges, and I assist by directing them to the right documents,” she added.
Senate President Chiz Escudero previously announced that the impeachment trial would tentatively begin on July 30. The Articles of Impeachment will be presented on June 2, followed by the oath-taking of senator-judges on June 3.
Duterte has also petitioned the Supreme Court to stop the impeachment process, arguing that the House committed grave abuse of discretion by ignoring three initial complaints and violating the one-year ban with a fourth.
