Senator Nancy Binay publicly criticized her sister and fellow politician, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, for using the campaign slogan “Abby Better,” implying it undermines their family’s legacy.
In a Facebook livestream under the UNA party, Nancy addressed comments allegedly made by Abby in her campaign speeches, claiming she had outperformed their father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, in public service. Nancy refuted this, saying none of the siblings—including herself or their brother Junjun—could surpass what their parents had done for Makati.
“None of us can match the public service of our parents,” Nancy said. She expressed sadness that their father, while campaigning with her, sees Abby’s tarpaulins that no longer carry the Binay surname. “There is no ‘Serbisyong Better’ in Makati—only ‘Serbisyong Binay,’” she emphasized.
Though not directly competing against her sister, Nancy is running for Makati mayor against Abby’s husband, Rep. Luis Campos Jr. She claimed Campos is a major reason behind the rift within the Binay family, alleging he is trying to break their sibling bond and erase their father’s legacy in Makati.
Despite the tension, Nancy clarified she doesn’t see Abby as her enemy and expressed hope for reconciliation: “No matter what happens, we’re still sisters. Maybe someday, when you’re no longer bitter, we can make peace.”
Nancy concluded by reminding her sister of their father’s example: “The service we should provide is not just better—it should be the best.”
