Karla Estrada didn’t hold back in her candid one-on-one with Ogie Diaz, admitting she was hurt and annoyed by how he covered her son Daniel Padilla’s breakup with Kathryn Bernardo and the surrounding rumors.
Speaking in a video interview aired on May 3, Estrada revealed that while she felt disappointed by some of Diaz’s words, she chose to value their long-standing friendship over frustration. “There were things that didn’t sit well with me, but I have a broader understanding,” she said, noting she had once entrusted Diaz to be her son Carlito’s godfather.
Jokingly, she quipped, “So, how much did you earn from all that content?”—a light moment that drew laughter from both of them.
Estrada emphasized that she doesn’t believe in shallow friendships and doesn’t harbor grudges. “It’s normal to feel irritated or upset, but I don’t hold on to negativity,” she added.
Reflecting on Daniel’s emotional struggles during the controversy, Estrada shared her protective instincts. “People speak without really knowing who he is. I worried about the pain from all those harsh words. I just hoped he was strong enough to take it.”
On whether Daniel has moved on from Kathryn, Estrada said, “It’s hard to forget someone you were with for a long time. But I don’t want to speak on his behalf. From my perspective, I still love them as a couple.”
She also expressed deep gratitude to Kathryn Bernardo’s family, particularly her mom Min, for their support over the years. “It felt like we were co-mothers to my son. There’s no bad blood on my end,” she said.
As of now, neither Daniel nor Kathryn has responded to Estrada’s remarks.
