President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s trust and performance ratings dropped slightly in the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey by OCTA Research, while Vice President Sara Duterte experienced a notable improvement.
According to the April 2025 results, Marcos earned a 60% trust rating and a 59% performance rating. These figures are down from the previous 65% and 64% reported in late 2024, marking his lowest trust score since early 2024. OCTA noted that a downward trend in public satisfaction with Marcos has been observed since July last year.
Despite the decline, OCTA emphasized that the majority of Filipinos still express overall trust and approval of the president.
Marcos welcomed the results, saying they serve as motivation. “It continues to inspire me because it shows that we’re making progress,” he said in an interview in Cavite. He also reflected that it’s sometimes hard to tell whether the public feels the effects of government efforts.
Malacañang echoed this sentiment, stating the survey outcome won’t sway the administration’s focus. “The President will not be distracted by ratings—positive or negative—but will consider them for the country’s benefit,” said Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte saw her numbers rise significantly. Her trust rating increased to 58%, and her performance rating to 56%, up from 49% and 48% respectively in the last survey round. According to OCTA, this is a clear reversal from a consistent decline that started in March 2023, when she had enjoyed peak trust levels of 87%.
The Tugon ng Masa survey was conducted face-to-face from April 2 to 5, with 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. The poll has a margin of error of ±3% and a confidence level of 95%.
