President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. responded simply yet warmly to Vice President Sara Duterte’s public gratitude for helping her reconcile with her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Glad I could help,” Marcos said, according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, who relayed the President’s brief response.
Last week, the Vice President credited Marcos for helping mend her strained relationship with her father. “This really is ironic, but I have to thank Bongbong Marcos because there was forgiveness between me and [former President Duterte] for all that has happened in our lives,” Sara said.
She shared that she now enjoys a renewed father-daughter bond with Duterte, although she steers clear of discussing his ongoing trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he faces charges of crimes against humanity for his controversial war on drugs.
Despite the ICC case, the Vice President told supporters she feels “blessed” and is grateful for the healing within their family.
