Vice President Sara Duterte is waiting on one final document before heading back to the Philippines from The Hague, where she recently visited her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking to the media with her sister Kitty Duterte, Sara expressed hope that her father’s legal defense team will be fully assembled before she departs. The former president is facing crimes against humanity charges in connection with alleged extrajudicial killings during his controversial war on drugs.
Sara emphasized that her father’s legal matters, including a potential interim release, are being handled solely by his lawyers. Meanwhile, she also revealed that the Office of the Vice President (OVP) is coordinating efforts to assist Filipino nationals detained in Qatar, reportedly for participating in an unauthorized political rally.
