Joy Belmonte Kicks Off Re-Election Bid with Health and Nutrition Promises for QC Residents

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte officially launched her campaign for a third and final term on Friday, vowing to bring more healthcare, nutrition, and government services to QCitizens.

Speaking at the proclamation rally of the Serbisyo sa Bayan Party at Quezon Memorial Circle, Belmonte pledged to enroll all Quezon City residents in PhilHealth, regardless of their contribution status.

“Our goal is for every QC resident to be covered by PhilHealth, even those not paying premiums,” she said. “This will help ease the worries of families when it comes to healthcare expenses.”

While the Universal Healthcare Act already guarantees PhilHealth coverage for all Filipinos, Belmonte’s plan aims to ensure full implementation at the city level.

Belmonte also unveiled other key initiatives:

  • A new hospital in Barangay Tandang Sora
  • An additional building at Quezon City General Hospital
  • A zero malnutrition target by providing nutritious meals to children in daycare and public schools

“If the national malnutrition rate is 40%, we aim for zero in Quezon City,” she said.

She also promised to build a “first-class” government center in District 5, Barangay Pasong Putik, to bring essential services closer to residents in that area.

Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, also running for his third term, joined Belmonte at the event, along with RJ Belmonte, first nominee of the Serbisyo sa Bayan Party-list.

Belmonte faces several challengers in the upcoming election, including Jonathan Cabalo, Rolando Jota, Noli Navat, and Diosdado Velasco. Sotto will run against June Faelangco, Inventor Ingles, and Dante Villarta.
