Kim Chiu, Paulo Avelino Grow Closer After Three Projects: “Hindi Ko Inexpect”

Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino revealed they’ve grown unexpectedly close after working together on multiple projects, including their latest film My Love Will Make You Disappear, which premieres on March 26.

At the film’s media conference, Chiu admitted she never thought she’d end up working with Avelino, recalling how she once voted for him during his StarStruck days. Paulo, in turn, said he’d been a fan of Kim since high school and always wanted to work with her—even mentioning her as a dream co-star in a 2011 interview.

Now, after starring together in Linlang, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, and their new romantic comedy, the two have developed a close bond. Avelino confessed, “I didn’t expect to get close to Kim, especially with the different career paths we took.”

Chiu also opened up, saying Paulo’s quiet demeanor initially made it hard to approach him. “He doesn’t talk much. He’d just stand there and look at you,” she joked. But through intense acting scenes and shared experiences, their connection naturally deepened.

Asked what they’d like to “disappear”—a nod to their film’s title—both stars wished to erase pain and sadness in people’s lives. Paulo emphasized that heartbreak isn’t the end of the world, sharing, “Life always leads us to better things. There’s always something to look forward to.”

My Love Will Make You Disappear also stars Wilma Doesnt, Karina Bautista, Lovely Abella, Benj Manalo, and Nico Antonio. Directed by Prime Cruz, the film opens in theaters nationwide on March 26.
