Actor Mark Herras has set the record straight regarding rumors of a romantic connection between him and singer Jojo Mendrez after he surprised Mendrez with a bouquet of flowers at a media event.
Herras explained in an interview with showbiz reporter Rodel Fernando that the gesture was purely a show of support for his friend.
“Just to be there and show my support kay Jojo. We started as co-workers and eventually became close friends. Wala namang masama magbigay ng bulaklak,” he said.
Addressing Speculation
Despite Herras’ explanation, speculation continues. He admitted that whatever he says, people will interpret it differently.
“Kapag sinabi kong meron, ang daming magrereact. Kapag sinabi kong wala, magtatanong pa rin sila. Bahala kayo isipin kung anong gusto niyong isipin, basta wala kaming ginagawang masama,” he stated.
Herras also emphasized that he and Mendrez share a “very, very good relationship as friends and colleagues.”
On Love and Possibilities
When asked if he believes a man can fall in love with another man, Herras said it’s possible, referencing his own experience of being raised by his adoptive gay parents.
“Based on my experience, I have gay parents, so it’s possible. Kung possible bang mainlove ang lalaki sa kapwa niyang lalaki, oo naman,” he shared.
Clearing Up Dating Rumors
Rumors about Herras and Mendrez’s alleged romance started after they were seen together at a hotel casino in Parañaque in February. Mendrez has since denied any romantic involvement.
Mendrez, known as the “Revival King,” recently released his first original song, “Nandito Lang Ako,” written by renowned OPM songwriter Jonathan Manalo.
Meanwhile, Herras is happily married to his non-showbiz wife Nicole Donesa. The couple has a son and is expecting their second child, a daughter.
