Erwin Tulfo Vows Stronger Protections for OFWs if Elected Senator

ACT-CIS party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo has pledged to push for enhanced protection for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) should he win a Senate seat in the 2025 elections.

Speaking to the Filipino community in Paris, Tulfo said he plans to file a bill strengthening the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) and streamlining case-handling procedures by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and embassies.

“We cannot rely solely on foreign employers to comply with pre-deployment requirements. Our agencies must triple their efforts to ensure employment contracts are strictly followed,” Tulfo stated.

He emphasized that protecting OFWs is not just about livelihood but a matter of life and death, urging tougher enforcement of labor rights abroad.

Lito Lapid Pushes for Single RFID System

Meanwhile, fellow Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas candidate, Senator Lito Lapid, is calling for a temporary halt to the reimplementation of cashless toll collection, citing issues with RFID mismatches and unreadable sensors at toll gates.

“Many motorists run out of balance unknowingly, causing delays. It’s time for a single, modern RFID system to improve efficiency,” Lapid said.

With the 2025 elections approaching, both Tulfo and Lapid are pushing for reforms aimed at migrant workers’ welfare and transportation efficiency.
