A fatal crash on the Skyway’s northbound section claimed the life of an SUV driver after the vehicle collided with the center island, overturned, and burst into flames.
According to a 24 Oras report, the driver was trapped inside as the fire engulfed the vehicle. Emergency responders used heavy equipment to clear the wreckage, but the victim was beyond recognition upon retrieval.
Authorities believe the driver was speeding before the crash. The PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) is investigating human error or mechanical failure as possible causes and has requested CCTV footage from Skyway management.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Further investigations are ongoing.
