
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming Eleksyon 2025, ensuring a peaceful, credible, and orderly electoral process.
Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony for newly promoted AFP generals and Foreign Pre-Commission Training Institutions (FPCTI) graduates, Marcos emphasized the military’s vital role in protecting democracy.
“As a nation that deeply values and honors our right to vote, we are counting on the Armed Forces to ensure a peaceful, credible, and orderly conduct of the electoral process. We cannot fail them,” he stated.
AFP’s Role in Election Security
The AFP is set to deploy at least 18,000 personnel for election security, with immediate reaction teams ready to respond to potential threats, including encounters and ambushes.
Marcos reaffirmed his administration’s support for the military, recognizing their sacrifices and dedication to upholding peace and democracy.
