President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. emphasized the potential for deeper ties between the Philippines and the Czech Republic during a meeting with Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová at Malacañang on Thursday.
Following his state visit to Prague in March 2024, Marcos noted that discussions between the two nations have continued, covering economic, diplomatic, and defense cooperation.
“I am very optimistic for the future in terms of our relationship with each other. There are many areas we still need to explore,” he said.
Strengthening Trade and Workforce Ties
The Czech Republic ranked as the Philippines’ 39th trading partner and 47th import supplier in 2022. As of December 2023, over 7,000 Filipinos were working in manufacturing, IT, real estate, healthcare, and household services in the European nation.
Marcos expressed optimism about expanding collaborations in these sectors, reinforcing the Philippines’ global partnerships.
