Dionela’s hit single Marilag has made history as the first-ever chart-topper on The Official Philippines Chart, recently launched by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The chart ranks the biggest tracks from both local and international artists in the country.
Released in November 2024, Marilag continues to dominate as the top song nationwide. Dionela also secured additional spots in the Top 10 with his tracks Sining and Oksihina. Fellow Filipino artist TJ Monterde’s Palagi also made it into the Top 10.
The chart isn’t just showcasing local talent—global artists are making waves too. The debut Top 10 includes Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, luther by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, BMF by SZA, blue by yung kai, APT. by Rosé and Mars, and Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish.
The Official Philippines Chart is based on data from streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube. The Top 20 songs will be announced every Tuesday, with streams weighted to reflect both volume and economic value, distinguishing between free and paid tiers of streaming services.
The IFPI is collaborating with the Philippines Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM) to ensure accurate representation of Filipino music consumption. “It will shine a light on the consumption habits of music fans across the country and provide an important platform to showcase the vibrant and growing local music scene,” said Roslyn Pineda, PRM board member and Sony Music Philippines general manager.
This initiative is part of IFPI’s broader efforts across Southeast Asia, with similar charts being launched in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
