Victor Wembanyama Shines as Spurs Dominate Bucks, 144-118

Victor Wembanyama delivered an outstanding performance with 30 points and 14 rebounds, propelling the San Antonio Spurs to a commanding 144-118 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. This win snapped the Spurs’ four-game home losing streak at Frost Bank Center

Wembanyama held his own against Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, refusing to back down even during physical encounters in the fourth quarter. The Spurs entered the final period with a 14-point lead and stretched it to 22 with just over seven minutes remaining, sealing the game.

Keldon Johnson contributed 24 points for San Antonio, while Stephon Castle added 20. Harrison Barnes chipped in 16, with Devin Vassell and Chris Paul each scoring 12 points in the victory.

Despite Antetokounmpo’s game-high 35 points and 14 rebounds, and solid contributions from Damian Lillard (22 points), Khris Middleton (21 points), and Taurean Prince (13 points), the Bucks couldn’t overcome the Spurs’ offensive surge.

The game began with the Spurs taking an early 11-point lead, but Milwaukee clawed back, tying the score 35-35 after the first quarter, thanks to Middleton’s late three-pointer. The second quarter saw the Bucks pull ahead by five points before Wembanyama’s crucial three-pointer and Castle’s free throw brought San Antonio within one at halftime (71-70).

In the third quarter, the Spurs regained control, with Castle’s three-pointer giving them an 81-79 edge. They continued to build momentum, highlighted by Wembanyama’s one-legged three-pointer late in the period, pushing their lead to a then-game-high 17 points.

This marks just the second win in seven games for San Antonio, showcasing Wembanyama’s growth in his sophomore season and the team’s resilience against top-tier opponents.
