John Amores Sells JRU Jersey and Sara Duterte Letter to Boss Toyo for P67,500

Basketball player John Amores earned P67,500 after selling two personal items to content creator and businessman Jayson Luzadas, popularly known as Boss Toyo.

Items Sold
Amores sold:

  1. His JRU Jersey: Worn during the infamous brawl between Jose Rizal University (JRU) and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in NCAA Season 98, November 2022.
  2. A Letter from Vice President Sara Duterte: The letter contained words of encouragement sent to Amores after the controversial incident.

Amores, then a member of the JRU Heavy Bombers, attacked the opposing team’s bench, punching several players. The incident led to his removal from JRU’s basketball team and indefinite suspension from the NCAA.

Negotiations with Boss Toyo
Amores initially priced the items at P200,000, but Boss Toyo negotiated for a lower amount, noting that even signed jerseys of NBA star Steph Curry sell for P70,000 to P80,000. The two settled on P67,500.

“This is a controversial jersey, and that makes it unique,” Boss Toyo said. “I hope your career improves. When it does, come back to me—these will be worth more.”

Ongoing Legal Troubles
Amores remains entangled in another controversy involving a shooting incident after an altercation during a basketball game. He and his brother are facing attempted homicide charges but were released after posting bail.

Additionally, his professional license has been revoked by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
