Former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson has announced his decision to withdraw from the Senate race in the upcoming national and local elections, citing health concerns.
Speaking to supporters at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sunday, Singson expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support but emphasized the need to prioritize his well-being.
(After much thought, I have decided that I will no longer continue with my candidacy for the Senate. I don’t want to force it, especially at the expense of my health.)
Singson revealed that he has been undergoing treatment for pneumonia and needs time to recover.
Gratitude and Continued Support
(I feel your love and continued trust in me. In my heart, I know I am already a winner.)
Commitment to Public Service
Despite stepping back from his senatorial bid, Singson reiterated his commitment to public service. He vowed to continue providing electric vehicles to transport groups, including the “Magnificent 7” bloc, which had endorsed his candidacy due to his promise to supply modern public utility vehicles.
Singson had also proposed opening bank accounts for those in need during his campaign filing.
