The highly anticipated super bantamweight undisputed clash between Japanese boxing star Naoya Inoue and Australian contender Sam Goodman has been postponed for a second time.
The fight, initially set for December 2024, was moved to January 24, 2025, after Goodman sustained a cut during sparring. However, Goodman’s recurring eye injury has forced him to withdraw once more, according to his promoter, No Limit Boxing.
“No Limit Boxing regrets to announce that Sam Goodman has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Naoya Inoue on January 24 due to a recurrence of his eye injury,” the promotional outfit shared on Instagram.
New Opponent for Inoue
Inoue, who has dominated the boxing scene as one of the sport’s pound-for-pound best, will now face South Korea’s Ye Joon Kim as his replacement opponent.
No Limit Boxing extended well wishes for Goodman’s recovery, stating, “We wish Sam a full and speedy recovery and will provide updates on the event in due course.”
Inoue’s Rising Legacy
Naoya Inoue, also known as “The Monster,” recently regained his No. 1 pound-for-pound ranking following his TKO victory over Luis Nery in May 2024. Fans remain eager to see how his career progresses as he takes on another challenger while awaiting a rescheduled match with Goodman.
