Fresh from a productive 2024, Julia Barretto is gearing up for an even busier year ahead with three major projects lined up: the thriller series What Lies Beneath, the drama Hello Heaven, and hosting the reality show Artista Academy.
A Thrilling Start: What Lies Beneath
Barretto expressed excitement about her role in What Lies Beneath, a new ABS-CBN series.
“The story is really different. After the pandemic, we’ve done many love stories. This time, we’re refreshing our lineup with something unique and thrilling,” she said during a solo media conference.
Barretto will be joined by an ensemble cast, including Bela Padilla, Janella Salvador, Charlie Dizon, Jake Cuenca, Jameson Blake, and JM de Guzman. While the plot remains under wraps, the project promises an engaging departure from her previous romantic roles.
Reuniting with Antoinette Jadaone for Hello Heaven
Another drama in the works is Hello Heaven, marking Barretto’s second collaboration with filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone, who directed her in Love You to the Stars and Back.
“I’m super, super excited. Direk Tonet and I have always talked about working together again, and now we’ll get to do that for an extended period since this is a series,” she shared. Details about the show’s plot and cast are yet to be revealed.
Taking on Hosting Duties with Artista Academy
Barretto will also debut as a reality show host for Artista Academy, a platform to discover the entertainment industry’s next big stars.
“It’s something I’ll be preparing for in January. I’m really looking forward to this new experience,” she said.
Gratitude for a Successful 2024
Reflecting on her achievements, Barretto expressed deep gratitude for her blessings. Her standout projects in 2024 included the web series Secret Ingredient and the romance film Un/Happy For You.
“I’ve been working hard since I was a kid, and it’s humbling to see the fruits of that labor. I’m trying my best to be present and grateful for everything I have,” she shared.
