
Kapuso star Dennis Trillo was named Best Actor at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal for his riveting portrayal of Domingo Zamora in the critically acclaimed film Green Bones. The awards night was held on Friday at Solaire Resort in Parañaque City.
Dennis’ Winning Role
In Green Bones, Dennis takes on the role of Domingo Zamora, a notorious prisoner convicted of murdering his sister and niece. As Domingo’s parole hearing approaches, a newly assigned prison guard (played by Ruru Madrid) works tirelessly to keep him incarcerated, sparking a tense and thought-provoking story about justice and redemption.
Heartfelt Acceptance Speech
Dennis thanked the MMFF, MMDA, and those who recognized his performance:
“Maraming salamat sa MMFF, sa MMDA, sa lahat ng mga nagdesisyon para mabigay ang mga parangal na ito ngayong gabi. Maraming salamat po sa mga taong naniniwala sa akin.”
He expressed gratitude to the Green Bones team, including Director Zig Dulay, Ricky Lee, and JC Rubio, as well as GMA Films executives. Dennis also dedicated the award to his family and his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, calling her his “number one supporter.”
“Inaalay ko ‘to, ang award na ‘to, sa aking pamilya. Sila po talaga ang nagi-inspire sa ‘kin para pagbutihin ‘tong ginagawa ko na ‘to… Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino.”
Other Nominees and Awards
Dennis bested an impressive list of nominees, including Vice Ganda, Seth Fedelin, Vic Sotto, Piolo Pascual, and Arjo Atayde.
His Green Bones co-star Ruru Madrid also took home the Best Supporting Actor award, further solidifying the film’s dominance at this year’s MMFF.
