Actress-comedian Pokwang surprised fans by revealing she is now a grandmother to Gabriel, the four-year-old son of her eldest daughter, Mae.
During an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Dec. 25, Pokwang was asked for her love advice to Mae. She advised her daughter to protect her heart and then sought Mae’s permission to share a personal detail.
“May apo na ako, four years old. I’m a lola and it’s another blessing,” Pokwang said tearfully. “I have a super, super cute four-year-old grandson. It’s another reason to pray for a longer life so I can see him grow up. I’m a proud lola.”
Pregnancy During the Pandemic
Pokwang disclosed that Mae became pregnant during the pandemic, when she had been preparing to work in New York. Instead of reacting negatively, Pokwang said she was ecstatic upon learning about the pregnancy, calling it a blessing.
However, the situation wasn’t without challenges. Mae revealed that Pokwang’s former partner, Lee O’Brian—father of Pokwang’s youngest daughter, Malia—wanted her out of the house after her pregnancy. Mae expressed disbelief at his actions, saying, “Between me and him, I feel I have more right to stay in the house.”
Plans for the Future
Mae and her partner, who have prioritized raising their child, plan to marry in the future.
