Director Cathy Garcia-Sampana has expressed openness to creating a third installment of Joy and Ethan’s love story, portrayed by Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, following the success of “Hello, Love, Again” (HLA).
In an interview reported by TV Patrol, Garcia-Sampana shared her perspective that stories, like life, continue to evolve: “You don’t end it. Because in real life, tayo, we don’t stop going.”
She explained that life’s challenges test one’s character, which could also apply to Joy and Ethan’s evolving narrative. “Hangga’t buhay si Joy and Ethan, you can make a story out of them,” she said, emphasizing that as long as the characters exist, their story can continue.
The director also reflected on touching fan encounters during HLA promotions. She recalled a couple who approached her at a restaurant and shared how the movie rekindled their relationship: “Pumasok kami sa sine magkahiwalay, and then lumabas po kami, magka-holding hands na.” Such moments, Garcia-Sampana said, inspire her to pursue Star Cinema’s vision of bringing happiness to audiences.
“Hello, Love, Again”, the sequel to 2019’s “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, is now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, earning ₱1.4 billion at the box office. The film follows Ethan’s journey to Canada three years after their breakup as he seeks to reconnect with Joy.
The movie stars Jennica Garcia, Joross Gamboa, and Valerie Concepcion alongside Bernardo and Richards.
