The volcano, located on Negros Island, emitted 3,620 tonnes of sulfur dioxide on December 14 and released a moderate plume rising 50 meters high, drifting west-southwest. Continuous degassing has also been observed.
Kanlaon’s intensified activity follows its explosive eruption on December 9.

PHIVOLCS has strongly advised evacuations within a six-kilometer radius of the volcano’s summit, while flights near the volcano remain prohibited.
