Regine Defends Herself
The netizen alleged that Velasquez loves her fans only when promoting concerts, joining a trending conversation on social media about fan expectations.
Velasquez firmly responded, saying she never forces fans to attend her events or listen to her music.
“When did I ever ask you for something I need? Did I ask you for money? I invite you to watch my concerts sure, but I’m not forcing you. I ask if you can listen to my songs, which are practically free. Kung ayaw mo, walang problema sakin (If you don’t want to, I don’t have a problem with that).”
She also called out the netizen for having unreasonable expectations, emphasizing that becoming a fan was their personal decision.
“Hindi rin naman kita pinilit na hangaan ako. YOU decided to do that. I didn’t ask you to. But you saying these things as if ikaw ang bumubuhay sakin, ano yun? (I’m not forcing you to admire me. You decided to do that. But you’re talking as if you support me financially. What’s that?)”
Velasquez ended her response with a graceful note, saying, “God bless you.”
