Actor-politician Jomari Yllana achieved a significant milestone by earning a master’s degree in management with a major in public administration from the Philippine Christian University (PCU).
Yllana, 50, completed his studies in two years, citing the pandemic as a turning point that motivated him to pursue further education.
“There was a time when I had things I wanted to finish and achieve. The pandemic changed everything for me. I woke up one day, realizing I needed to prioritize my goals,” Yllana shared during the graduation ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
Preparing for Future Roles in Public Service
Currently an outgoing councilor for the 1st district of Parañaque, Yllana said that equipping himself with education is crucial for navigating the challenges of public service.
“Everything is so challenging. You need to be well-equipped in this modern era. It feels good knowing I can accept any position with confidence,” he said.
Yllana also expressed interest in pursuing a doctorate degree in the future, inspired by his father, a neuropsychiatrist who served in the military.
Considering a Return to Showbiz
After a decade-long hiatus from acting, Yllana revealed plans to return to the entertainment industry, sharing his excitement about the potential rebranding of his career.
“I stopped showbiz in my late thirties. Now that I’m almost fifty, it’s exciting to think about re-packaging and exploring new roles,” he said.
While acknowledging the physical preparations needed for his comeback, Yllana said he feels more excited than nervous.
A Supportive Partner
Yllana’s wife, former actress Abby Viduya, who is running for councilor in Parañaque’s 1st district, expressed pride in her husband’s accomplishments.
“I’m so proud of my husband. He has a brilliant mind, and it’s inspiring to see him push himself to achieve his dreams. I support him the same way he supports me,” Viduya said.
The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2023 and continues to pursue their passions in both public service and personal growth.
