Alexa Miro Reveals Paranormal Encounter While Filming ‘Strange Frequencies’

Actress Alexa Miro shared a chilling paranormal experience she had while filming Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, an entry for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Possessed on Set?

During the media conference for the film on November 14, Miro recounted feeling a heavy, negative presence on the first day of filming inside the haunted hospital in Taiwan.

“Before we entered the tunnel, I already felt heavy. Parang may bumubulong sakin na huwag kang dumaan,” she said.

Despite ignoring the unsettling sensation to avoid alarming her co-stars, things escalated when she walked through the tunnel.

“It’s as if someone was riding me. My movement was constricted. I couldn’t breathe. But when I exited the tunnel, it felt like the entity had left, and I just burst into tears,” she added.

Her colleagues and crew prayed for her after the incident.

A Horror Film with a Meta Twist

Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital is a Philippine adaptation of the South Korean box office hit Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Billed as the country’s first meta-found-footage horror film, it follows the cast vlogging their exploration of a haunted hospital.

Miro stars alongside Enrique Gil, Rob Gomez, MJ Lastimosa, tarot reader Raf Pineda, and content creator Ryan “Zarckaroo” Azurin. The film is directed by Kerwin Go and produced by Erik Matti and Dondon Monteverde in partnership with Gil.

Premiere Details

The film is set to premiere in local cinemas on December 25 as part of the MMFF lineup, joining nine other entries.

With real-life paranormal encounters on set and a unique meta approach, Strange Frequencies promises to deliver spine-tingling scares for audiences this holiday season.
