Social media personality Chloe San Jose weighed in on Ai-Ai delas Alas’ recent separation from husband Gerald Sibayan, subtly referencing a past comment the veteran comedian made about her.
San Jose shared a social media post on Facebook with the caption, “Back to you, mamang. Not to make fun of your situation, but what you do to others will come right back at you 10x. It’s just the universe’s law.”
A History of Remarks
This comment appears to stem from Delas Alas’ involvement in San Jose’s past public dispute with her boyfriend, Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, and his mother, Angelica Yulo, in September. At the time, Delas Alas supported Angelica, advising San Jose, “Kung wala ‘yung nanay niya, wala kang darling ngayon… hindi ka pa asawa, girl. Girlfriend ka pa lang.”
Months later, following Delas Alas’ confirmation of her separation, San Jose’s private post quickly circulated after screenshots surfaced online.
San Jose Defends Herself
San Jose addressed the situation in a follow-up post, clarifying that her remark wasn’t offensive or public initially.
“It’s beyond my control that someone took a screenshot of what was intended as a private post,” she explained. “Even if it were public, my caption was neither derogatory nor offensive. So why the outrage?”
San Jose criticized people for publicly discussing private matters without understanding the full context, stating that “true courage and meaningful discussions take place offline.”
Sophia delas Alas Responds
In response, a private Facebook account under Delas Alas’ daughter, Sophia, commented on San Jose’s post:
“Matapang ka? Public mo naman post mo regarding my mom. Kita tayo sa Manila? Matapang ka eh.”
(Are you brave? Make your post about my mom public. Let’s meet in Manila? You’re brave, anyway.)
San Jose replied, “Messaged you, love,” with a smiling face and hearts emoji.
As of this writing, Ai-Ai delas Alas has not commented on San Jose’s remarks.
