Actress and comedian Pokwang recently voiced her disappointment after losing a significant amount of money from her account on the popular online payment app, GCash. She shared her frustration on Instagram, revealing that her account was wiped out, with funds reportedly transferred to nearly 30 unregistered numbers.
“I work honestly, providing livelihoods for single moms, and then one morning I wake up to find my GCash account emptied? Sent to various unregistered numbers—almost 30 of them. What happened to the registered SIM policy?” she wrote, sharing screenshots of the unauthorized transactions.
The TiktoClock host also called on GCash to take action, expressing the emotional toll of the incident. “It’s heartbreaking. I built my business alone after being let down by someone I trusted, and now I’ve been tricked even here. [@gcashofficial] Please help people like me who are working honestly and providing livelihoods to others.”
In response, GCash released a statement reassuring users of the app’s security, explaining that the incident was due to “errors in an ongoing reconciliation process.” GCash became a trending topic after multiple users, including Pokwang, reported missing funds. As of now, neither Pokwang nor other affected users have confirmed whether their money has been successfully returned.
