Actress Claudine Barretto recently spent quality time with the family of her late ex-boyfriend, Rico Yan, describing the reunion as “divine intervention.” Barretto shared photos on Instagram of a heartfelt gathering with Rico’s mother, Sita Yan, his sister Tina, and Tina’s children.
“Thank [you] Tita Sita… Divine intervention [and] all is well in our souls,” Barretto wrote, promising to always be there for Yan’s family. “You are truly an angel from God… I promise to always be there for Tita Sita [and] your whole family,” she added.
This emotional reunion comes years after Barretto joined Rico’s family in commemorating his 20th death anniversary in March 2022. Rico Yan, who was 27 when he passed away in 2002 from cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis, shared an iconic on- and off-screen romance with Barretto from 1998 until their split in 2001. They starred together in memorable projects, including Got 2 Believe and Mula Sa Puso.
In a May 2024 interview, Barretto opened up about her past with Yan, expressing her deep respect for his memory and her commitment to protecting his legacy.
