Police Clear K-Pop Star Jessi of Charges in Fan Assault Case

K-pop singer and rapper Jessi has been cleared of any charges related to an assault incident involving a fan, according to Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station. Authorities decided not to forward Jessi’s case to prosecutors, concluding that there was insufficient evidence to support accusations of concealing or aiding a criminal.

The incident took place on September 29 in southern Seoul, where an 18-year-old fan approached Jessi for a photo. The request was declined, and as the fan began to walk away, a man in Jessi’s group—later identified as rapper-producer Koala—allegedly struck the fan in the face. Jessi reportedly attempted to stop the altercation but left the scene shortly after. She claimed this was her first encounter with the assailant, though some speculate he may be a Taiwanese American with prior connections to her.

While Jessi is cleared of involvement, Koala has been referred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office on assault charges. Another man, a foreign national accused of participating in the assault, fled the country. He is now on a police wanted list with an Interpol Red Notice issued for his apprehension.
