VP Sara Duterte Calls Relationship with Marcos ‘Toxic,’ Imagines ‘Cutting Off’ His Head

Vice President Sara Duterte revealed in an interview on Friday that her relationship with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had become so strained that she started imagining “cutting his head off,” according to a 24 Oras report. Duterte described this as the moment she realized their relationship had turned “toxic.”

Duterte recounted an incident at a graduation ceremony where a student asked Marcos for his watch as a gift, to which he replied, “Why would I give you my watch?” This response, combined with the laughter from those beside her, deeply irritated Duterte, fueling her frustration. She said she felt bad for the student and would have given her own watch if it were more valuable, but joked it was “only a Vice President’s watch.”

During the same interview, Duterte harshly criticized Marcos, giving him a performance rating of “1” out of 10 as president, accusing him of having no clear plans to address key issues like food security and inflation. She also stated that she has a list of five impeachable offenses committed by Marcos, though she expressed doubt that any impeachment would succeed in Congress.

Malacañang has so far declined to comment on Duterte’s statements.
