Kim Ji-soo on Family Ties in Korean and Filipino Media: The Love for Family is the Same

Actor Kim Ji-soo shared his insights on how family is portrayed in both South Korean and Filipino media, observing that both cultures emphasize deep familial bonds. Kim stars in the film Mujigae, where he plays Park Ji-sung, a father reconnecting with his Filipina daughter Mujigae (played by Ryrie Sophia). The story follows Park as he travels to the Philippines to bring his daughter to South Korea, exploring themes of family and belonging.

At a press conference, Kim emphasized that family remains a central theme in media across both countries. He noted that popular South Korean dramas like Reply series and Strong Woman Do Bong-soon highlight these values, which resonate equally well in the Philippines.

Now working with Sparkle GMA Artist Center, Kim expressed admiration for the positive energy of his Filipino co-stars and crew. He mentioned that the warmth of the Filipino people has made his time in the country enjoyable, despite the challenges of adjusting to the tropical climate. Kim, who has also appeared in Filipino dramas Black Rider and Abot-Kamay na Pangarap, hopes to explore more diverse roles in Philippine cinema.
