Arroyo Seeks Reelection as Pampanga Representative, Salceda Aims for Albay Governor Role

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has officially announced her candidacy for reelection as Pampanga’s second district representative in the May 2025 elections. In her statement on Tuesday, Arroyo, who serves as the chairperson emeritus of the ruling Lakas-CMD party, expressed her dedication to continuing her work for her constituents.

“I am committed to addressing the needs and priorities of my district and the province of Pampanga,” she said, emphasizing her focus on local issues.

Arroyo also clarified she will not pursue a Senate seat in 2025, stating, “I have no intention of seeking a Senate position again,” referencing her prior tenure as senator from 1992 to 1998 before becoming vice president.

Meanwhile, Albay Representative Joey Salceda has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for Albay governor. His lawyer, Atty. Jong Bonafe, submitted the COC on Salceda’s behalf, aiming for a straightforward filing process.

Salceda, who chairs the House Committee on Ways and Means, previously served as Albay governor from 2007 to 2016. Like Arroyo, he is a member of the Lakas-CMD party.
