
A fire broke out on a Ferris wheel at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig, Germany, on Saturday night, injuring more than 20 people. The blaze, which started around 9:00 p.m., engulfed two gondolas before being swiftly controlled by emergency responders. Among the injured, four people suffered burns, one was injured in a fall, and 18 others were treated for smoke inhalation. Some police officers and firefighters were also hurt while responding to the incident.
The Highfield Festival, known as Germany’s largest independent rock festival, attracts thousands of attendees each year. This year’s event featured performances by artists like Macklemore, The Kooks, Flogging Molly, and Rise Against.
All injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
