
Public satisfaction with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s performance has seen a slight improvement in the second quarter of the year, according to a recent Oculum Research and Analytics survey.
The non-commissioned survey, conducted from June 25 to June 30, shows that 50% of Filipinos are satisfied with Marcos’ performance as he enters his third year in office. This is a marginal increase from the 49% recorded in the first quarter. However, the percentage of respondents who are unsatisfied rose to 22% from 18%.
Vice President Sara Duterte’s satisfaction rating dropped to 64% in the second quarter from 75% in the first quarter, with 13% of respondents expressing dissatisfaction with her performance.
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero received a 48% satisfaction rating, with 9% unsatisfied. Speaker Martin Romualdez had 34% satisfied and 37% unsatisfied respondents.
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo’s satisfaction rating fell to 25% from 31%, with 11% of Filipinos expressing dissatisfaction.
Opinions on National Issues:
The survey also gauged public opinion on various national issues, including the West Philippine Sea (WPS) territorial dispute with China.
- 75% of respondents are unsupportive of the Philippines’ relationship with China, and 66% view China as untrustworthy.
- 53% believe the Philippines should align with the US regarding the WPS issue, with 26% supporting seeking military assistance from Washington.
- 35% advocate defending Philippine territory against China, while 10% suggest seeking peace with Beijing.
Regarding divorce in the Philippines, 49% of respondents are unsupportive of its legalization.
The survey included face-to-face interviews with 1,200 Filipino adults and has a sampling error margin of ±3 with a 95% confidence level. Oculum conducted the survey in collaboration with APCoRE, Areopagus Communications Inc., and PressOne.PH.
