Hidilyn Diaz Shares Pride in Representing Philippines on Independence Day

Hidilyn Diaz, the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist, marked the country’s Independence Day by expressing her pride in representing the nation.

In a heartfelt social media post on Wednesday, Diaz emphasized the honor and dedication she feels in donning the national colors. “As a Philippine national athlete, it’s my pride and honor to give my best in training and competitions to represent the Philippines because you are worth fighting for and representing,” Diaz wrote.

Misses Paris 2024

Despite her ongoing commitment to the sport, Diaz will miss the 2024 Paris Olympics. Elreen Ando outperformed Diaz at the Asian Weightlifting Championships, which served as the qualifiers for the upcoming Summer Games.
