From Turbulent Past to Business Success: The Transformation Journey of ‘Boss Toyo’

In a candid revelation on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” entrepreneur and vlogger Jayson Luzadas, known as Boss Toyo, openly shares his tumultuous past filled with challenges, addiction, and misdirection, and the inspiring story of how he turned his life around.

As a teenager, Jayson’s life took an unexpected turn when he discovered he was adopted. This revelation, encountered during a casual gathering, unsettled him profoundly. A person claiming to be his sibling approached him, unraveling the truth about his origins. “Directly sinabi niya na, ‘Kuya kita.’ Sabi ko sino ka? Sabi niya kapatid kita. Magkakapatid tayo, isa ang nanay natin,” Jayson recalls. The emotional turmoil of this discovery led him down a path of rebellion, as he grappled with his identity and the distinction between right and wrong.

His teenage years spiraled into a haze of illegal drug use, theft, and violence. Jayson admits to succumbing to substance abuse, engaging in theft, and resorting to snatching to support his addiction. His life was marked by brawls, injuries, and a lack of academic achievement, as he sought the attention and acceptance he found in the company of peers and destructive habits.

However, a significant turning point came when Jayson was struck by a severe case of dengue, which brought him to the brink of death. The experience of being hospitalized and needing a blood transfusion became a moment of stark realization for him. Reflecting on his life after being discharged, he resolved to break free from his drug dependence. “After kung mailabas ng ospital sabi ko parang ayoko nang mag-shabu,” he shared.

His journey to recovery and transformation was further propelled when he was offered a job as a delivery boy. This role, demanding long hours into the night, instilled in him a newfound appreciation for hard work and the value of money. It was during this period that his life began to take a positive turn, leading to his marriage to Loves Joy and the birth of his entrepreneurial spirit.

Starting with a modest buy-and-sell business, Jayson, now widely recognized as ‘Boss Toyo,’ established “Pinoy Pawnstar,” a venture that grew from their initial investment in the gold business. Despite the success and recognition, Jayson and Loves Joy continue to dream and aspire for more, their story a testament to resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of second chances.

The journey of ‘Boss Toyo’ from a troubled youth to a respected business owner is not just a personal triumph but an inspiring narrative of overcoming adversity, showcasing the possibilities of change and the impact of determination and hard work.
