In a chilling and tragic incident in Agusan del Sur, Philippines, a 65-year-old woman was brutally murdered in her store. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Mario Fortun, decapitated the victim and presented her head as a grisly “gift” to his drinking companions. According to reports by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the crime occurred in Barangay Cayanugan, Bayugan City. The suspect, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, abruptly left his group of friends, hinting at returning with a “gift.” He then proceeded to the victim’s store, which was also her home, and committed the heinous act with a machete.

The suspect took the victim’s head and returned to the gathering, located about 200 meters from the store, presenting it as his promised “gift.” Investigations revealed a minor dispute between the victim and the suspect over some flowers that the victim owned, which the suspect claimed obstructed his path and had thorns. In response to being accused of theft by the victim, the suspect became enraged, leading to the tragic event.

Authorities noted that the suspect had previous legal issues, including drug use, and planned to conduct a drug test to determine if he was under the influence at the time of the crime.
