Last February 26, BIGHIT MUSIC released a statement confirming the news that BTS’s J-Hope has taken the first step towards his mandatory enlistment.

“As you heard, the enlistment process has started today. It does not mean that I am enlisting immediately,” J-Hope told fans in a Weverse live on the same day.

In a statement released on Weverse, BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’s agency, said that J-Hope “has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement.”

South Korean men are required to enlist in the military between the ages of 18 and 28. The BTS members were permitted to postpone theirs until the age of 30 due to their impact on South Korea’s overall culture and global standing.

J-Hope also recently released a documentary entitled “j-hope IN THE BOX” which followed the journey of creating his first solo album. He is also set to release a new single ‘On The Street’ this March 3.

BTS plans to regroup some time around 2025 after all members have accomplished their mandatory enlistment.
