Marcos Orders Grant of Rice Allowance to All Government Employees

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang announced on Saturday that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has issued administrative orders granting all government employees a one-time rice allowance for this year. 

Military, police, fire, and jail personnel, as well as civilian employees of national government agencies, such as those in state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions, government instrumentalities with corporate powers, and government corporate entities with regular, temporary, or casual positions, are eligible for the rice subsidy.

According to the Office of the Press Secretary, the President’s order also authorizes the grant of a one-time service recognition incentive at a uniform rate not exceeding P20,000 for executive department personnel, such as from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria). 

Civilian personnel in NGAs, including those in state SUCs and GOCCs, regular, contractual, or casual employees, members of the military and the police, as well as fire and jail personnel under the Department of the Interior and Local Government, are also entitled to receive the incentive. 

Employees of both houses of Congress, the Judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman, and Constitutional offices can get a one-time SRI from the head of their office at a set rate not to exceed P20,000.
