EJ Obiena continues a spectacular season with another triumph at the 2022 Golden Fly Series Liechtenstein.
The world-class pole vaulter ruled with a clearance of 5.71 meters that beat out five other competitors.
Obiena’s win closed the second part of his seasons where he secured five gold medals in seven competitions.
He attempted a six meter jump but fell short.
Obiena created a short Facebook post reflecting on his achievements and future goals. “Exactly one year ago today, I broke the 29 year old Asian record in outdoor pole vault by jumping 5.93m. A lot has happened since then, and just a few hours ago, almost did 6m. As usual, we keep on trying and keep on fighting, for the country,” he said. Obiena capped his post with the hashtag #parasabayan.
His most noteworthy victory of the season was during the Brussels Diamond League where he beat Armand Duplantis, the world’s number one pole vaulter.
