EJ Obiena copped another gold medal in the True Athletics Classics in Leverkusen, Germany.

Obiena won after clearing the bar at 5.81 meters, winning ahead Netherlands’ Rutger Koppelaar and Australia’s Kurtis Marschall via countback.

This is Obiena’s second gold in a week after he won first place at the Internationales Stabhochsprung-Meeting in Jockgrim, Germany last August 26.

The Filipino pole vaulter admitted frustration as he failed to 5.95 meters in an attempt to up his personal record.

Obiena expressed how he felt about his performance through a social media post. “I am very happy to bring home the (gold) against a great field. But on the other hand I am frustrated by missing 5.95m again. We have boiled it down to some technical adaptations, which at these heights makes the difference between a miss or a make. Like anything in life, this is all about continual improvement,” he said.

He is also scheduled to compete in the upcoming St. Wendel City Jump this August 31st.
