Britney Spears’ musical comeback after her conservatorship is a collaboration with Elton John. “Hold Me Closer” is a club-dance remake of John’s 1971 hit-single “Tiny Dancer.”
The song was an instant hit, charting at No.1 on iTunes in the U.S. and other countries.
John expressed his delight on the collaboration through a statement. “She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record. I love her dearly and am delighted with what we’ve created together.”
Spears shared a video on Twitter where she happily reacted to the song’s success.
“Hello Sir Elton John we are like No. 1 in 40 countries,” she said. “Holy s—! I’m in the tub right now and I’m about to go have the best day ever and I hope you’re well.”
John responded to the video with, “Hey Britney!! Thank you for this message. You’ve made my day!! Hope everyone has the best day dancing to our song! #HoldMeCloser.”
