MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) under sectary Francisco Duque III has approved the Health Assessment Technology Council’s recommendation to distribute Pfizer booster shots for minors ages 12-17.
On Saturday, DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also announced that all those aged 12-17 will soon receive vaccine booster shots.
“Nagbigay na din po ng ‘oo’ na pwede na ipatupad din ang the rest of the population ng 12-17. Hopefully in the coming weeks makikita natin ang slow na pagtaas nito pong ating 12-17 booster doses dahil kailangan po ng ating mga kabataan ang booster doses na ito.”DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire
She also mentioned that some 100 immunocompromised minors in the 12-17 age bracket had already received COVID-19 booster shots. Meanwhile, Vergeire has yet to disclose the start of booster shots vaccinations for all minors.
According to the National Vaccinations Operations Center chief Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje earlier, booster administration for the age group would start as soon as guidelines are released.
