DOH Logs Lowest New COVID Cases Since July 2

MANILA, Philippines — On Tuesday, December 7, the Department of Health reported only 356 new positive COVID cases. This has been the lowest daily tally since July 2 of last year.

The additional positive cases increased the total number of active cases to 13,026. This amounts to only 0.5% of the 2,835,345 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

DOH reported that 47% of active cases are mild or asymptomatic. The positive rate stands at 1.4% based on samples taken from 24,360 people last December 5. ABS-CBN Data Analytics Head Edson Guido reported that this is the second lowest positive rate since April 2020. 

DOH also logged 92 new fatalities, upping the total death count to 49,591. On the other hand, total recovery cases increased by 871.
