‘Squid Game’ creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, said that the second season will continue to stream on Netflix. He told the Associated Press, “I almost feel like you leave us no choice. There’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for the second season.”
Despite confirming the following season, Hwang did try to manage expectations when talking with reporters. “It’s in my head now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.” He confirmed that Lee Jung-jae will return to play the protagonist, Seong G-hun.
Aligned with Hwang’s statement, a Netflix representative also said that the second season is being discussed, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Netflix said the show, which debuted in September, has reached 111 million fans and was the top show in 90 countries. The show also surpassed fan-favorite “Bridgerton,” which Netflix projected reached 63 million households.
