Over 55,000 PNP Personnel to be Deployed for School Opening

MANILA, Philippines — Guaranteeing a safe environment for the return of millions of students, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has declared full operational readiness for the start of the new academic cycle. The police force has mobilized a massive nationwide safety apparatus ahead of the official resumption of public school classes on Monday, June 8.

Operated under the traditional “Oplan Balik-Eskwela” framework, the nationwide rollout aims to provide high-visibility reassurances to parents and guardians without pulling resources away from standard community anti-crime campaigns.

The security deployment draws from a robust, multi-tiered network of active-duty law enforcement officers, specialized tactical units, and decentralized neighborhood safety groups:

To maximize rapid response capabilities inside high-density school zones, the PNP has set up an extensive network of physical safety touchpoints across the country’s provinces:

[ THE CAMPUS RESPONSE FRAMEWORK ]
[ 9,319 Assistance Desks ] ──► Physical **Police Assistance Desks (PADs)** are set up directly inside or clustered
around school campuses to address emergency student or parent complaints instantly.
[ 9,525 Mobile Patrols ] ──► High-visibility vehicle loops operate continuously along major roads, public transit hubs,
and student drop-off zones to deter street criminals.
[ Specialized Shielding ] ──► The **Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG)** is tracking online threats like cyberbullying and
school scams, while the **Highway Patrol Group (HPG)** manages traffic flow.

This year’s massive deployment is carefully calibrated to support the Department of Education’s (DepEd) shift to a three-term school calendar for School Year 2026–2027, a reform designed to improve learning continuity. In the capital region alone, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin confirmed that over 4,400 police officers are dedicated strictly to Metro Manila’s dense transport hubs, commuter lines, and major school districts to handle the early morning rush.

“Importante sa amin na maramdaman ng bawat magulang at estudyante na ligtas sila sa kanilang pagpasok sa eskwela. Hindi lang ito presence—this is assurance,” stated PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., explicitly confirming that all units are ready to protect the estimated 26 to 28 million returning students.

Additionally, both DepEd and the PNP quickly addressed and dismissed a wave of fake news circulating on social media that claimed the June 8 opening of classes would be suspended. Authorities urged parents and student groups to remain discerning, stay updated through official government channels, and immediately report any suspicious activities or real-world security threats to the nearest school assistance desk or by calling the national 911 emergency hotline. By building a strong, visible safety network early, the police force ensures that the transition into the new school year remains smooth, orderly, and entirely focused on education.
