MANILA, Philippines — The management of the long-running variety show It’s Showtime has officially addressed and debunked circulating rumors suggesting that the program will be moving to the Sunday noontime slot, currently occupied by the musical-variety show ASAP Natin ’To.
The clarification comes after several social media posts and “blind items” claimed that a major shake-up in the ABS-CBN and GMA partnership would result in It’s Showtime airing seven days a week to maximize its current ratings momentum.
On Monday, May 4, 2026, a representative for the show clarified that there are no ongoing discussions regarding a Sunday expansion.
“We would like to clarify that there is no truth to the reports that It’s Showtime will be taking over the Sunday noontime slot. We are very happy with our current 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM schedule from Monday to Saturday,” the statement read.
The management emphasized that ASAP Natin ’To remains a cornerstone of the network’s Sunday programming. The musical variety show, which has been on the air for over three decades, continues to be the primary platform for the network’s top-tier singers and performers.
Production insiders noted that the logistical demands of It’s Showtime—which features high-energy segments like “Tawag ng Tanghalan” and “Expecially For You”—make a seven-day broadcast schedule highly improbable for the current cast and crew.
The rumors gained traction largely due to the show’s massive success since moving to GMA-7’s main channel in April 2024. The partnership has consistently topped noontime ratings, leading some fans to speculate that the network would want to replicate that success on Sundays.
However, industry analysts point out that the current Sunday block is already performing well with a mix of ASAP, movies, and localized specials.
While the main hosts have yet to issue individual statements on the matter, Vice Ganda has previously mentioned in passing during live broadcasts that the team values their “Sunday rest” to recharge for the grueling six-day work week.
For now, “Madlang People” can continue to catch It’s Showtime in its regular Monday-to-Saturday slot across GMA, GTV, A2Z, and Kapamilya Channel.
