MANILA, Philippines — Fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) is set to stir up the local caffeine scene as it prepares to launch South Korean coffee brand Compose Coffee in the Philippines within the year.
The move follows a highly successful international debut in Taiwan, where the brand saw massive crowds and sold an average of one cup every 20 seconds during peak hours. According to a disclosure by JFC on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Taiwan store generated approximately $70,000 Taiwanese dollars in its first day alone.
JFC is betting on Compose Coffee’s “value-focused” strategy to capture the hearts of Filipino consumers.
- Quality & Quantity: The brand is known for offering premium beverages with generous serving sizes at competitive price points.
- Korean Influence: Popular menu items expected to make waves locally include the Red Bean Injeolmi Milkshake, Dalgona Latte, and the classic Iced Americano.
- Scalable Growth: With nearly 3,000 stores in South Korea, Compose Coffee utilizes a simple, efficient store model that JFC plans to replicate rapidly across its global portfolio.
The Philippine rollout is a key component of Jollibee’s broader mission to become one of the world’s top coffee and tea players.
- The Competition: Compose Coffee joins JFC’s existing beverage heavyweights, including The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Common Man Coffee Roasters, and Highlands Coffee.
- Operational Refining: JFC noted that insights gained from the Taiwan launch—such as high-volume management and local taste preferences—will be used to refine the brand’s operations for the upcoming Manila debut.
The local market has seen a surge in demand for affordable, high-quality coffee alternatives and a deep fascination with “K-culture” and Korean cuisine. By bringing a proven Korean brand to the local market, Jollibee is positioning itself to cater to both budget-conscious students and office workers looking for a premium coffee experience without the high-end price tag.
“The market response in Taiwan highlights the massive appeal of the Compose Coffee model,” JFC stated. “We are excited to bring this same energy and quality to Filipino coffee lovers.”
