MANILA, Philippines — The De La Salle University (DLSU) Golf Team has officially secured a new training ground, entering into a strategic partnership with the prestigious Riviera Golf and Country Club in Silang, Cavite.
The alliance, announced on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, is being hailed as a “game-changer” for the Green Golfers as they intensify their preparations for the upcoming UAAP season. The partnership grants the team access to world-class championship courses, providing the high-caliber environment necessary to sharpen their skills for collegiate competition.
The collaboration was finalized with the support of Riviera’s leadership and key members of the DLSU community:
- Riviera Leadership: The agreement was backed by President Alex Escalona, Captain Perry Bucay, Co-Captain Byungchan Kim, and Golf Operations Manager Cyril Belardo.
- Student-Athlete Initiative: DLSU Golf Team member Manu Alegre and the team’s core leadership played a pivotal role in facilitating the deal.
- Focus on Excellence: “This collaboration strengthens our commitment to discipline and championship excellence,” stated the DLSUGT Core.
With the UAAP golf tournament on the horizon, the Green Golfers are looking to translate this access into tangible results.
- Elevated Training: Access to the Riviera—known for its challenging Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer-designed courses—will allow the athletes to practice on professional-grade greens and fairways.
- Culture of Winning: The university views this move as a significant milestone in its mission to sustain a “culture of winning” and foster long-term athletic development.
- Gratitude: Team Captain Perry Bucay expressed deep appreciation for the club’s trust, noting that opening its doors to the team provides “golden opportunities” for the student-athletes.
The partnership comes at a time when collegiate sports in the Philippines are seeing increased investment in specialized training facilities. By securing a “home” at one of the country’s premier golf destinations, DLSU joins an elite group of universities providing their golfers with the resources needed to compete at a high level.
As the team begins its residency at Riviera, the Lasallian community is hopeful that this move will propel the Green Golfers to a podium finish in the next UAAP campaign.
